Crete's only fresh water lake and a charming harbour-side stop.....
We had loads of fun spending an afternoon at Lake Kournas - the dogs had an awesome time and it made a great change from sea water for them!
There plenty of places to grab some grub and a drink here and if you fancy it you can head on out in a pedal boat.
After, we headed up to Georgioupoli for a night, where there is a totally exquisite sunrise behind Agios Nikolaos Chapel - what a superb start to the day!
Georgioupoli is a beautiful town where 3 rivers meet the sea and the amazing Agios Nikolaos Chapel, proudly sits out on the small islet of Agios Nikolaos in the middle of the water - reachable by a narrow, rocky walkway through the sea. Georgioupoli has heaps of eating places, shops and beach - we stayed on the harbour which was perfect... be kind, respectful, buy local and you'll be fine grabbing water from the harbour side.
